Tour Itinerary

The Glendalough/Kilkenny Tour departs from Nassau Street, opposite Kilkenny Design. Our guide will introduce themselves and we will be on our way!

Our first stop brings us to Glendalough (or Glen of two lakes) which is one of the most important sites of monastic ruins in Ireland. The city was founded by St. Kevin and is also referred to as the city of seven churches. We will have a walking tour of Glendalough Valley to see the famous lakes and a guided tour of the historic Glendalough monastic settlement.

We will drive through the scenic Wicklow Gap which is the highest point of the Glendalough Valley. The Wicklow Mountains National Park surrounds us on our drive and you will see rounded peaks covered in heath and bog, winding mountain roads and beautiful streams down the mountainside.

We will arrive to the historic city of Kilkenny where we have three hours to explore this incredible medieval city. Our guided walking tour will take us throughout the city streets, showing us the historic landmarks and buildings along the way. We will see the magnificent Kilkenny Castle and the Castle Gardens. Look for the round tower next to Saint Canice's cathedral which is the only landmark remaining from the monastic settlement founded in the sixth century.

You will have the chance to explore the city on your own and enjoy a special offer for lunch at Kilkenny Design Centre Restaurant.

We will depart Kilkenny and head back to Dublin after a day of beautiful views and historic sites!
